Baby Care Tip 28 – Keep your diaper bag ready all the time

This is common sense, so nobody tells you to keep a diaper bag packed and ready in your cabinet all the time. It doesn’t matter if you are not going to the park, mall or for a trip anytime soon. Keeping a diaper bag ready saves you from last minute travel stress and all the fuss that you have to face with your baby. Remember, if you are travelling far and need to pack all your baby essentials in your diaper bag and you are pressed for time on the day of your travel, you are bound to forget one or the other stuff that you might regret later. Here are 10 diaper essentials you need to have in a diaper bag.

As a new mother, I never thought keeping a diaper bag ready was a great idea because I might need all the essentials at home and storing them in a bag might just make them rot or reach expiry date without using them. But with time I realised that why some smart mums keep a bag ready with them every time. Once I was at the paediatrician’s clinic when my baby pooped and I realised that I forgot to get the changing mat along with me. I had to do with some old newspaper in place of the changing mat. But that was just a minor issue. This got me thinking that the entire scenario and stress at the clinic could have been avoided if I had packed the bag early. That incident made me realise that keeping a bag ready with the few essentials can save you from such embarrassment and panic. Here are few other mistakes that Indian parents should stop committing.

So as a rule, I always keep a bag with some bare essentials ready and stuff it with baby food and other important things needed on that particular day. If you are wondering what the essentials that should be there in the bag here is a quick rundown:

Three to four diapers
A small size baby wipes
A hand towel
Changing mat
A wrap cloth
A pair of change
Hand sanitizer
If these basics are already packed, you can be hassle-free while packing the food, vaccination files or things that are the priority of the moment.

Remember, always to refill the bag once you are back from your visit. Also, once every week take out the wrapping cloth, towel and the pair of change and wash them. Replace them and check if your child has out grown the size of the dress or clothes you have packed. This little step helps a mother to plan a fuss free travel. Trust me, I do this and it saves last minute packing stress.
